Job Offer Fell Through Because of Shelter-in-Place? You Can Get This Benefit.

By Rachel Puryear, Attorney at Law

If you were scheduled to start a new job before Shelter-in-Place, and the offer fell through because of SIP orders, you can file for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance benefits (PUA). These benefits are available for people who do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance benefits, but who have lost employment as a result of COVID-19.

For that matter, people diagnosed with the illness, told by a medical provider to self-quarantine, or who are caring for someone with COVID-19; also qualify for these benefits.

For California residents, you may file for these benefits through the Employment Development Department’s page on PUA benefits.

Apply and get the benefits that you are entitled to!
